OMG SKOOL

I will be presenting my thesis, "Autism in the Inclusive Classroom: Implications for Public School Practice" at 9:30 AM tomorrow in Seminar 2 A2109 at The Evergreen State College. I promise I'll do my best to make it interesting.

In Eugene

Stayed at Fjorlief's last night, too bad we couldn't bring her with us.

In Eugene at "Oscar's House" hanging out on the couch with netbook and Mama cat. Sleepy, but good.

Peep, peep, peep!!!

So, these are really dark, but I brought the first hatched from the incubator in, to make friends with the heater, really, but then I remembered I have a webcam now. :D

Again, hard to tell from this picture, but this little peeper is light enough in color that it's probably a teeny, tiny rooster. Dominiques (or Dominicks, depending on who is asked,) are distinguishable by color even as chicks. The hens are charcoaly and the roosters much lighter, both are speckled black and white. They're what Barred Rock chickens were bred up from.

Netbook cover

So I tried ordering a netbook cover made of neoprene from Belkin. It's the wrong size, and the right size isn't available in the states.
I'm still annoyed with Amazon, and none of the others I have been able to find on other websites are either A: not what I want because they load the computer in from the side, or B: not a nice color, or C: waaaay too expensive.

Epiphany: Duh. I can knit one.

String solves many problems.

Spring

The air smells really good, there was just a very nice, temperate shower outside. :)

On an unrelated note, I'll be doing a brief lesson on food politics, fact, and opinion, with the 5th graders in a week and 1/2. Should be interesting.

My tea is warm, and I'm about to transfer the rest of the music on the old, sad, needs-to-be-fixed laptop onto the new, slick who-knew-how-nice-it-could-be netbook. There is still the whole weekend ahead of me to do homework.

Things could be a lot worse.

I'm so incredibly impressed, and I want someone to do it in Portland. Someone specific, actually (ex housemate) but really, anyone would do. Olympia...not quite right. Eugene...mebbe. Someone on the West coast, please! I feel a need to spectate this!

School starts again

Yup. It's officially week 1 of Spring Quarter.

I'm on the 4th pint of beer. It's 1:11 in the morning. I've finished the two assignments that are due 1st thing in the morning, but not some of the things that I was supposed to have finished last quarter or over spring break. Bah.

I'll be finishing this beer 'n' goin' to bed shortly.

On the bright side, I'm almoooooost done with my U-Neck Vest.

ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZzzzzzzzz.

Reposted from MIT2010 email list (originally posted by me.)

I ran across some of the language arts songs (Based on poems by Poe, one was The Pit and the Pendulum, the other The Flask of Amontillado) and thought that was pretty cool, showed one of them to Chimere today. I searched for "flocabulary" in Google and got their whole website, which is amazing! I'm listening to "MLK Rap" on the social studies section of the site right now, and, well, listen for yourselves.

Here is the main website. I'm bookmarking this one as a resource for sure.

TextArc.org

A group of my classmates taught a class about how graphing can be artistic (synthesizing art and math in one lesson, it was a neat lesson), and one of the examples used was the depiction of Alice in Wonderland from this website.
I have a massive amount of respect for folks who can program software because I use it every day and don't really know how it works. Stuff like this boggles my mind and makes me happy at the same time.
