I don't really have the wherewithal to make a "real" post, so I'm lifting this from
sidhefire because it looks nice.
Reply to this post, and I will list three things I love about you. Maybe more than three :D Then repost to your own journal, if you want, and spread the love.
be careful what you ask for ;-)

Date: 2008-09-05 02:26 am (UTC)*Well, you're a friend of both of my sweeties and at least one other of my friends, so a friend of a friend is likely to be someone I'll like.
*You seem to be someone who "gets it" in your personal relationships.
*You're studying some really neat things at your university, and I enjoy reading about them.
How's that for a passing acquaintance?

Date: 2008-09-05 02:50 am (UTC)Say, while I've got you here...
I think I've heard you say that you are at Evergreen. They are currently advertising for "...broadly trained earth scientists with academic training and demonstrated ability to work with students in both field and laboratory settings, and a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.", which I think is a good description of me. However, further along in the ad they specify "Field of expertise should include one or more of the following: hydrology, aqueous chemistry, low-temperature geochemistry, or biogeochemistry." which doesn't match the list of what I've been studying at all. When I saw the ad I considered applying for it anyway, and sending them a letter about why the mix of things I have studied would be perfect for a school which values interdisciplinary study. How well do you think such an application would be received? If they've come up with that experiance wish-list, are they likely to be wedded to it, or would they seriously consider an applicant with a totally different background, but one who values alternative education environments?

Date: 2008-09-05 03:02 am (UTC)Oh, and Evergreen LOVES good writing, so if you essay on how well you'd do in an interdisciplinary setting, the likelihood of them being interested in you goes WAY up.

Date: 2008-09-05 02:42 am (UTC)*You're really fun to hang out with, especially when wandering around the city; you are a really great person to be friends with.
*You are creative in ways I would never imagine, with your house, your clothing, your kitchen, everything! And I know that the creativity is in part necessity, but that's even better, because you have a knack for using what you have to the best effect.

Date: 2008-09-05 02:48 am (UTC)*You care deeply about the people that you feel responsible toward, whether those in your shire that you are trying to help better themselves, or your friends that are having difficult times, or folks who you're just friendly with. This has the effect of leaving those people with a warm feeling that someone like you cares about them, so they must be worthwhile.
*I greatly admire your continued dedication to SCA fighting, it both makes me proud of you and a little guilty of me. You're one of the most fun people to fight, which is much different than getting into trouble. (That comes LATER! With the little booze bumming cups!)
